TJC’s Chen Tai Ji Summer Demo

Tai Ji Circle’s Summer demonstration of Chen Taijiquan on 15 July, led by Shifu Liu Quanjun, showed the progression of many of the Chen routines we teach as part of our syllabus, from Foundation training, hand and weapon forms, such as Fan, Sword, Stick, Double Sabres. Shifu Liu expertly finished with a section of Xinjia Er Lu, one of the most advanced Chen routines full of jumps and energy releases. Enormous thanks to our team of students and friends who came from many parts of London and gave their time and energy to support and participate with us.

Saturday’s Tai Ji in the Park

Great session in Camden Square with Shifu Liu on Saturday, the sun emerged before a brief hail storm chased us into St Paul’s Hall, where we later had our Foundation Chen workshop, snug and dry!

Shifu Liu adjusts posture in the Chen Foundation standing practice, relaxation is the key. Lovely to be outside for the training, this is similar to meditation and being at one with nature.

20 July: Chen Tai Ji Single Sword, London Workshop with Shifu Liu

The Chen single sword form enables the student to understand and learn to project energy from the body to the end of the sword tip, and make play with the weapon as a continuous part of the body. Shifu Liu will work with posture correction and fajin practice, emphasis on yin yang, ’empty’ and ‘full’ aspects of movements of the form.

Shifu Liu will teach the Chen Tai Ji Quan Sword routine step by step, helping you to understand the parts of the sword used for different techniques such as chop and thrust.

Suitable for those with taiji experience or Chen weapons and hand forms

Created by Chen Xiao Wang in response to demand from students for a short routine suitable for beginners. This is the second workshop for the 19 Part Form to be given by Tai Ji Circle this year, for those who have done it before it is an opportunity to revise, or learn from scratch, and increase understanding of the movements and requirements of this beginners form, practice some fajin (energy releases) and martial techniques contained within each movement.

We will supply a sheet with the movement names in Chinese Pinyin and English translation.
