This double workshop is to be held in our London venue or you can attend live online with Zoom.
Dates: 17 + 24 October
Venue: St Paul’s Church Hall, Camden Square, NW1 9XG
Times: 13:00-16:00
Shifu Liu will teach Laojia Yi Lu, (Old Frame), the classic form of Chen Taijiquan. We will study the first sections on 17 October and continue on 24 October.
Laojia Yi Lu has 74 movements (so we are unable to finish the complete form in 3 haours!) and is the basis of many other Chen style tai ji routines that have this as their underlying structure, you can see the references in the sequence of other Chen hand routines.
It is characterised as Yin with many soft, smooth twining movements indispersed with fajing, energy releases such as a punches or kicks. Laojia Yi Lu was created by Chen Changxing in the 19th C, from the original sets of tai ji originator, Chen Wanting, a general of the Ming dynasty in China. It is the oldest tai ji routine from which many modern tai ji styles originate, such as Yang and Wu styles.
There will be a refreshment breaks and Q&A.
Suitable for all levels with some experience
We are unable to set this up as a double workshop and have set it up as an ‘in venue’ workshop on Eventbrite and if you can only come online, please book the online ticket and Chris will send you out the Zoom joining links beforehand. Thank you.
