SUMMARY:15+22.09.18: Chen Old Frame\, Taijiquan Workshop with Shifu Liu
DESCRIPTION:In this double London workshop\, Shifu Liu will take an in-depth look at Laojia Yi Lu\, the classic Old Frame\, the seminal form for Chen style Taijiquan. We will study it in two parts\, the first on 15 September\, the second on 22 September.\nFor those who aren’t familiar with the form\, it has 74 movements and is the basis of many other Chen style tai ji routines that have this as their underlying structure and once you remember it\, you can see the references in the sequence of moves in the other Chen forms. It is characterised as ‘Yin’ with many soft\, smooth twining movements interdispersed with fajing\, energy releases such as a punch or kick. Laojia Yi Lu was created by Chen Changxing in the 19th C\, from the original sets of tai ji originator\, Chen Wanting\, a general of the Ming dynasty in China. It is the oldest tai ji routine from which many modern tai ji styles originate\, such as Yang and Wu styles.\nShifu Liu will teach the routine with posture and movement correction\, covering different aspects and techniques of the form. SUMMARY:11 August 2018: Bagua Zhang workshop with Shifu Liu
DESCRIPTION:Catch this rare opportunity to learn the internal martial art of Bagua Zhang from Master Liu Quanjun.\nFormulated in 1860 by Ding Haichuan in Beijing\, Bagua Zhang’s movements employ the whole body with smooth coiling and uncoiling actions\, utilizing hand techniques\, dynamic footwork\, and throws. Rapid-fire movements draw energy from the center of the abdomen. The circular stepping pattern also builds up centripetal force\, allowing the practitioner to manoeuvre quickly around an opponent.\nOne of the three major internal martial art styles\, Bagua Zhang uses Yi Jing theories. A key requirement is the  practice of circle walking\, using the eight direction of the compass. During practice you continuously change direction without stopping to build skill and speed.\nSuitable for all levels\nAll workshops have refreshment breaks.\nLunch will be 12:45 – !3:15\nSeminar Fee Drop-in Fee: £55 Members          £70 Non-members (cash or cheque only)\nPaid in advance: £50 Members   £65 Non-members\nBooking essential\, queries please email: info@taijicircle.com\nVenue St Paul’s Church Hall\, Top end of Camden Square\, London\, NW1 9XG

SUMMARY:2 June: Chen Foundation Taijiquan London workshop with Shifu Liu
DESCRIPTION:Tai Ji Circle’s second Chen tai chi Foundation workshop of 2018.\n6th Duan Shifu Liu\, will work with standing\, and silk reeling exercises which are the basic essentials and foundation for Chen Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) training. Specifically improving the standing and stepping silk reeling exercises and some martial applications\, or teaching a short form if there is time.\nStanding practice\, (called Zhan Zhaung)\, begins the process of internal discovery\, relaxes\, realigns and strengthens the body to improve your posture. Silk reeling exercise training improves coordination and leads you to sense the energetic changes that take place in the body through the accurate alignment\, placement and movement of the body\, as well as reflecting the martial\, medical and philosophical aspects of the training such as weight changing and the exchange of yin yang in movement (eg. light/heavy or open/close). If there is time we will also teach a short Chen Form or practice some martial techniques during the workshop.\nThis will be a practical workshop\, Shifu Liu will correct your body posture and movements\, and we hope that you will gain a better understanding of the requirements and the underlying principles of tai ji training.\nIt is best to wear lose comfortable clothes\, flat shoes\, and not to eat a very heavy meal just before training.\nAs it is a four hour workshop\, there will be refreshment breaks and the opportunity to ask questions.\nSuitable for all levels and new students to Chen Taijiquan.\nWorkshop Fees:\nDrop-in Fee: £55 Members\, £70 Non-Members   (Cash or cheques only on-the-door)\nPaid in advance: TJC Members: £50   Non-members: £65\nVenue: St Paul’s Church Hall\, Top end of Camden Square\, London\, NW1 9XG\nAny queries email: info@taijicircle.com\nhttp://www.legacytaijicircle.com\nTai Ji Circle are members of the Chen Xiao Wang World Taijiquan Association\, the BCCMA and the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain

SUMMARY:Chen Taijiquan Double Sabres London workshop with Shifu Liu
DESCRIPTION:Double Sabres workshop with Shifu Liu will include teaching the form step by step\, with posture and movement correction.\nHistorically in China\, before guns were available\, people travelling on foot or horseback used some kind of bladed weapon such as a sabre for protection. The common soldier often carried a sabre\, while the sword was more often carried by an officer or a gentleman scholor.\nThe Double Sabres Form demands stronger more flexible body movements than working with a single weapon\, the practice of the form enhances coordination\, helps increase power and strength as it requires a lot of skill to perform well.\nAs it is a four hour workshop\, there will be refreshment breaks and the opportunity to ask questions.\nExperience with Chen Taijiquan weapons is preferred as this is an advanced practice.\nWorkshop Fees:\nDrop-in Fee: £55 Members\, £70 Non-Members   (Cash or cheques only on-the-door)\nPaid in advance: TJC Members: £50   Non-members: £65\nVenue: St Paul’s Church Hall\, Top end of Camden Square\, London\, NW1 9XG\nAny queries email: info@taijicircle.com\nhttp://www.legacytaijicircle.com\nTai Ji Circle are members of the Chen Xiao Wang World Taijiquan Association\, the BCCMA and the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain
